FCE Ultra
This emulator is probably the most active of all the NES emulators (as in development). Since its on sourceforge it makes it easy for others to share their code and help improve it even more. Its also probably the most popular NES emulator as of right now.

This used to be a very popular emulator. It is very fast and will run games at full speed even on a 486. If you have Windows95/98 it will run on that also. I can't say for certain if it will run on newer versions of Windows as I no longer use this emulator, since there are newer ones that support many more games.
